Is Organic Skincare a Big Deal?

Why is organic skincare a big deal? Do organic skincare ingredients really make a difference?

Yes, they do! I believe what you put on your skin is just as important as what you put in your body.

I don’t mess around when handcrafting skincare. If the ingredient isn’t pure, organic and health promoting, I don’t use it. But why, you ask?

Studies show that an average of 64% of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream. There are many variables that may determine the rate and percentage at which it is absorbed but the point is, what you put on your skin CAN and WILL affect your health.

I like to feel good and I want to live a full life. My health will determine how that all plays out, so I plan to do all I can to support it with clean skincare, good food and a holistic lifestyle.

Knowing the absorption possibilities with skincare, I think it’s safe to say what you put on your skin is just as important as what you eat.

When you eat food, it goes through the digestion process and then the detoxification organs before it bombards your bloodstream. Your liver and kidneys have an opportunity to filter some of the toxins. When you apply something to your skin, your skin may become the filter before it passes through to your bloodstream.

Most toxins are fat soluble. Which means they like to hang out and take up residence in fatty tissues. We have an area under the top layer of our skin called the subcutaneous layer and guess what? It is fat tissue. It’s there to insulate us from heat and cold, it provides a protective padding and serves as an energy reservoir. Once again, it’s fat so those fat-soluble toxins absorbing into your skin may end up living there.

I don’t know about you, but I am quite particular about my health & the food I eat.

After working for one of the top 20 alternative doctors in the country for 5 very busy educational years and then getting certified as a holistic nutritionist I am very conscious about the food that goes in my mouth and what I put on my skin.

Avoiding toxic products will help to relieve the burden your already overworked liver has to deal with. Our bodies are overwhelmed with environmental toxins, stress, infections and foods that are covered in pesticides. It’s impossible to avoid many environmental toxins but there’s so many choices we make every day that will eliminate a lot of unnecessary exposure.

You can choose to avoid so much more than you may be aware of.

Avoiding toxic chemicals is an excellent choice, especially if you want to achieve optimal health. If you find your health compromised, reducing the toxins in your life can significantly increase our body’s ability to heal.

This is why I create organic skincare at Siphon Draw Apothecary.

It started out as a selfish decision. I wanted clean skincare but had a tough time finding it, so I created it. Then I became determined to share it with as many people as possible.

Our skincare is 100% free of toxic, synthetic ingredients.

Our ingredients are mostly Organic Food that can be found in your kitchen. Olive oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Cinnamon, Coffee, Honey, Baking Soda, Arrowroot Powder, Goji Berry, Prickly Pear…

It’s Food!!!

We’re not as concerned with the cost of our ingredients as much as we are concerned with the quality and health promoting benefits.

Organic is our preference for eating and skincare making.

Natural is often believed to be comparable to organic but it is a word thrown around loosely. Did you know that the original natural flavor found in many foods is actually fluid secreted from the castor gland located way too close to the anal glands of beaver butts? It’s often called “beaver butt juice.”

Nice huh? Many companies use natural ingredients but that doesn’t mean these “natural” ingredients are the best choices for ingesting or applying topically.

Organic and Wildcrafted are my go-to for the ingredients in my recipes. I choose the purest and most nutrient dense ingredients available to feed your skin. Whole Organic Foods and Eating Clean is an integral part of the equation to achieve optimal health. Your body products are just as important.

All of our skincare creations live up to these expectations. You will never find fragrances, perfumes, chemicals or dyes in our products. No weird stuff allowed. No fillers are mixed in the middle of the good stuff.

That’s something that really gets under my skin.

Sometimes a product has many really great ingredients and then they add a few toxic ones. Why would they do that!!?? One reason is to increase a profit margin. Another is it’s a quick cheat to achieve an instant result. The problem with that is the result doesn’t last or it does not support long term skin health. Most people don’t know the difference between health promoting ingredients and harmful toxic ingredients.

Do you know?

There are so many confusing labels and the ingredient lists often look like another language. To say the least, it can be confusing & misleading.

A great resource to check an ingredient’s toxicity is EWG.org

Start reading your skincare labels to decide for yourself.

You will find plenty of products out there using fragrance, petroleum, phthalates, parabens, dyes and other toxic, recipe extending & profit margin increasing ingredients.

I offer something else entirely.

When I choose my ingredients, I ask myself, “Can I eat this?”

If the answer is no, then I question if I want to create my skincare with it.

What I have found since creating and selling my products over the past 6 years has been amazing. When you remove the toxic ingredients and replace them with organic, many skin ailments resolve. The feedback from our customers confirms how effective simple clean ingredients are.

As I create skincare products the goal with every recipe is to be effective and support health while causing no harm.

Then I get creative and fun with it! To check out our products go to www.siphondraw.com
